MAZ to host Annual Continuous Professional Development Master Class

Thursday, May 31, 2018

As marketers there is need to ensure that you are keeping abreast of current standards and trends, in order for you to remain relevant. This is the main reason MAZ hosts the Annual Continuous Professional Development Master Class (ACPD), which was previously known as the Annual Marketers’ Winter School. This intensive

career changing programme will be taking place from 27 to 30 June at Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga. For those who want to be accredited as  Marketing Practitioners, you are invited to Class A, whilst those who just want to refresh their knowledge of Marketing, Sales, Business Development and Customer Experience knowledge, are invited in Class B, which is open to marketing, sales, customer service, public relations and related professionals, as well as existing Marketing Practitioners.

Class A, is conducted in conjunction with Institute of Marketing Management (IMM). Participants are taken through a practical step by step approach on strategic marketing planning.  After completing the programme, those who qualify will be accredited with the Marketing Practitioner Status, (MPS). The main aim of Class A is to go through the steps of developing a sound marketing strategy.

For Class B, this year there is an exciting array of speakers who will make presentations that are pertinent for any professional who wants to advance to the next stage of their career. One of the topics is “Leading Companywide Digital Transformations” which will be presented by Natalie Jabangwe-Morris, the CEO of Ecocash Zimbabwe. There is need for organisations to reach high levels of digital maturity, such that there are clear and coherent digital strategies. Leading brands are continuing to pursue digital innovation, but they go beyond digital transformation by developing sound strategies.

Another topic which will be centered on embracing digital innovation will be “Effective Crises Management in the Digital Era”, which will be facilitated by Mrs. Sibonginkosi Muteyiwa, who is the Head Marketing and International Relations at POTRAZ. A company’s reputation is very fragile and it only takes one mistake to cause irreparable damage to your company’s image. Dealing with a crisis has been complicated by the numerous sources of information and consumer empowerment which is now experienced through digital channels. This means marketers and public relations practitioners need to have strategic ways of handling crises using digital media.

Another interesting topic that will be tackled is “Advertising Agency Relationships: Getting the most from your Agency and Managing Conflict”, which will be facilitated by Barry Manandi, Managing Director of Columbus Communications. The dynamics of the advertising industry in Zimbabwe is characterized by a limited number of players and it often becomes a war over clients. This results in marketers and brand custodians getting frustrated at the agencies. Learning how to handles relationships with the people who “take care of your brand” is crucial.

Customer Experience Management is a topic we cannot escape from as everything begins and ends with the consumer. As such Dennis Mambure, the Head Marketing and Product Channels for Barclays Bank will be delivering a presentation on Customer Experience Management across Multiple Touchpoints.  Maxen Karombo, Head Marketing at Delta Beverages will present on the topic “Integration of Marketing, Sales and Business Development: Best Fit Approach”.

Being a marketers who fails to understand the numbers will lead you to become irrelevant. Marketers need measure the overall effectiveness of marketing campaigns in order to make better decisions about allocating future investments. Finance Director of FML Life Insurance, Mr. Paddy Chigunduru will tackle the topic, “Maximizing Return on Marketing Investment”.  There will also be a special address from an industry CEO on how the marketing function can fully achieve organisational strategy expectations.
